At the lower part of the work there is the following inscription: «remnants of an icon discovered on the village of Milea in Epirus, in 1981, by Sotiris Spyridon Sorogas, a minor painter. The icon was restored, tot he extend that was possible, and mounted on linen, as a gesture of respect and love.»
